Help How do I beam?

So I was wondering how do I beam my two devices?

Does Bluetooth have to be on for both devices?

Tried bringing them back-to-back together and I hear a sound/vibration but nothing really happens. Both have OEM Samsung NFC batteries.

beam uses NFC, not bluetooth.

Must be between two Samsung S3s, no other phone has beam yet. Hold the phones back to back.

Make sure NFC is turned on (Settings -> Wireless And Networks -> More Settings)
Then use an app to share stuff.

Theres loads of videos on youtube: sbeam - YouTube

You should be able to beam to any NFC Android device using Android beam, but S Beam only supports the S3 at present.

Bluetooth also will allow file transfers, but it's slower than NFC. However, bluetooth is far more common among devices. I think the only exception is that iOS equipped devices do not allow transferring of files over bluetooth.

True but Nexus has Android Beam and so does the S3. Wonder what I'm doing wrong.
