Help How do I block a phone number (5.0.2 Lollipop)

I saw one article that said to add the number to contacts, then send to voice mail?
Let me get this right, I need to add SPAM numbers to my CONTACTS in order to block. NFW.

You haven't said what phone you have, but blocking a number on my HTC M9 (5.0.2) can be done by going to 'Call history', longpress the number/contact and select 'Block caller' from the list of options that appears.
My phone has that as well, blacklist the number from the call log. Oppo F7, Lollipop.

More info :-

Similarly, the stock message app also allows blocking by longpressing a message and selecting 'Block contact'.

Same with Google Messenger sms app. Just tap the 3 dot button within a text thread, tap "people and options" , and it gives the option to block that contact :thumbsupdroid:

On Samsung phones, you have settings for an Auto-Reject list, which is basically the same thing. There is also a spam filter for text messages. So basically, it would depend if your phone has it built it in or not.

I have an LG G2. None of the above solutions work. What a POS.

If I go to Phone -> Recent -> Long press the number ->
I don't see a popup menu option for "block"

I can't use Messenger, b/c the person called me, not texted me.

Hmm I'm stumped then mate sorry. The problem is that Android is bastardised by every manufacturer/carrier so nothing is standard.
Have you asked in the g2 forum?
