Root How do I build a ROM for the Admire?

I know this thread has probably been posted hundreds of times but I find so much information but don't know which to use or which works. I'm trying to learn how to build roms (maybe one day a cm9) and hopefully help us admirers :D I've read things about building roms. I'm currently running Windows 8 & Ubuntu 12.10. I also have a Lazy and Overclocked Admire so I'm sure I have the hardware but now I need the software. Do I use Windows or Ubuntu? What programs do I need? Which is the easiest? I can google info on how to use the software and how to build the rom if I need more info (hopefully) If not I'll ask on here (If I'm welcomed to) Thanks in advance :) Hope I'm not breaking any rules or anything by asking this....

As a general rule, if you have the need to make a new post about such questions you should stop right there. Use google. There is no specific guide for porting or developing. but i'll give you a rough over view (in no particular order)

read
learn java
learn c (and its derivatives)
read
program some stuff on pc first
get a phone with a lot of dev work done and read through it.
read
read some more.
break some stuff

you get the idea. Google's your friend
Building from source - CyanogenMod Wiki is a great place to start. Not trying to be rude but its not something you learn overnight.
(ps i am in no way a developer or even what this forum calls a "dev" if you could call them that.

Thanks everyone; I'm willing to take on the challenge of all the work and research and I've already started. Couldn't have did it without all of you here on androidforums :D

Check out XDA. i wouldn't post a question such as this because you will just get yelled at. But read through the big devs worklogs. read read read.
