How do I cancel a text that's about to be sent?

Hit back and delete the draft.

I guess i should have been more specific- if i accidentally hit send, and the message is being sent (the red marker appears), how to i stop it from being sent since there is no cancel button?

You don't... Its gone... Essentially its already "sent" it and its only waiting for a delivery confirmation before that goes away.
