How do I create a poll

I wanted to do a poll thread, but I don't know how to get the poll where people can vote. Can someone please help me out?

When you create a new thread at the bottom of the page there is an option to post the thread as a poll.

I saw that, I checked it and numbered the choices in the post, but they were just in the post, not a poll when I previewed it.
