How do I edit T9 dictionary?

I'm not sure if you can if you're on 1.5 (at least i don't remember being able to), but on 2.1 you can through menu>settings>language&keyboard>touch input>user dictionary

is this for the regular message app that came with phone or does it work for swype too? I just did it and it won't open the user dictionary, so I am wondering if it is just because I have never used the message app that came with the Eris.

Also, would you know how to delete words in the swype dictionary if it is different? Thanks

ok, well is there an official update to 2.1 yet?

Nope.

Careful bringing that up in this forum though... it's a touchy subject with a lot of members...lol

You'll find pretty easy instruction on rooting your phone and getting the 2.1 leak in the stickys on this forum.

Some, like myself, are still hopeful there will be an OTA update soon...

We'll see :(

i am with you, i dont want to root my phone becasue it is still under warranty and i dont really like the leaked versions.

Love the ability to edit the dictionary in 2.1. Almost as excited about that as I was about the Turn-by-Turn Navi. Thank God... no more cursing the heavens whenever I accidentaly add a misspelled word to the dictionary!
