The end call is a red button on a touch screen, but after I finish talking with someone, the screen is blacked out (on screen saver), then when I press the menu button to activate the screen, it goes to menu, it takes so much effort to end the call in case the other person has not, is there any other button to end the call directly?

the ace has a built in proximity sensor in the front...just next to the camera you can see it in the right light,
when you take the phone away from your ear don't press anything the screen will automatically unlock and light up, the red button is now visible and you can end call.
i didnt know what the proximity sensor was for until my bro in law told me about why phones have proximity sensors.

OK, none of these suggestions help me. If I hold the phone away and the screen lights up again, cool. That Accessibility feature only works if the screen is lit, and the whole problem is based on the fact that the screen goes blank the second you accept a call. If you accidentally try to manually unlock the screen, how the heck to you retrieve that call interface so that you can hang up? This is REALLY frustrating!
when I end call I just touch the screen and it lights up and I end by touching the red button on screen, but few times the phone just froze, it wouldnt light up and I couldnt end the call wich was really uncomfortable. After updating my system through kies it works properly as far as I can say.

Ok go to SETTINGS then ACCESSIBILITY and then tick the Box that says 'The power key ends calls'.
If you tick/check that box you will be able to end calls by hitting the powerkey from now on.

I was about to post the same.
These androids it seems some things are too gimmicky and not much thought process was carried out.
ending calls shouldnt require any touch screen interaction.
on mine if you just unlock it normally the call screen is still there and the big red end call button can be pressed, however if accidently press the home button an extra time it goes to the home screen and then have to drag down the notifcation bar for a much smaller end call button, probably a far too arkward process when out and about.
This annoyed me when I got the phone new, I found myself shouting at the phone while frantically trying to hangup knowing someone was at the other end. Not great if you are trying to end a call in a hurry because someone is making noise in the background around you etc. I eventually found the power button ends call feature. Having to wait for the proximity sensor to notice you have taken the phone away from your face/ having to pull down the menu because you have accidently pressed back/home takes too long!.

thank you for this - tried to read the user manual online, but didn't get to the accesibility part, so thank you, thank you, thank. just got this phone last week and it's been driving me nuts trying to figure it out!

My phone has a plastic case which is kind of thick around the edges so the power button is not very distinctly operated - in fact to turn the phone on after it has (often) crashed I have to take the cover off just to operate the button.
I wonder if it is possible to answer and end calls with the BIG Button - that can be easily found by feel - and seems a shame that it is not used during calls.
this phone - good as it maybe - is designed to be used by geeks - half the time I end up calling not who I want or not able to close a call when I want to.

What I've been able to figure out is that if you use the large main button on the front of the phone, and if you end up on the home/idle screen, you have to go to the notification bar across the top, pull it down, and there will be info for the call in progress. tap on the green phone button that appears in the pull down notification screen, and that will take you back to the main phone menu, where you can then hit the red "end call" button.
bit round-about, but works in addition to the power off button.

You were almost right (at least for my problem), but it got me thinking. My screen seemed to blank out, but not all of the time. I couldn't see why it was so intermittent. I read your post about the sensor and thought 'What if something else is blocking the sensor?' Couldn't see anything, and the screen protector wasn't obstructing it. Then I noticed that the leather closing strap of the phone cover (which is at the top of the phone) was falling forward and obstructing the sensor and cutting out the screen while I was making a call. Pushing the strap back bought the screen back on!!!
I have also changed the settings to make the power off button end the call - just in case.

I hold the phone below the volume buttons and the micro sim slot and each time have managed to cut the call!
I have no idea why this should happen, but will select the the power key to turn off.
