How Do I Get Google Nav Back?

Greetings,

I have had a Pentach Maurader for over a year, and have used Google Nav (the app with the blue triangle) nearly every day during that time.

Now today, the app is entirely gone. There simply is no blue triangle in the space where the app was, and looking through my apps it is nowhere to be found.

I understand Google Nav is part of the Android operating system, but when it's missing like it is on my phone, how can I get it back?

I depend on this app for turn by turn directions and would love to get it back, if anyone can help.

Thank you in advance.

They merged it into Google Maps, I personally can't stand it but that's how it works now. Or If you have Google now you can use that

Well, I had rebooted numerous times, hoping it would show up and it didn't. However, one more reboot and voila! There it was. It was in my apps again, magic!

You can go into your app manager and select Maps, then click "Uninstall Updates" to roll it back to the previous version with the separate Nav icon. A lot of people are doing that.
To prevent it from auto-updating again, go to Maps in the Play market and be sure that the box for automatic updates is unchecked.

It disappeared from 2 of my phones some time ago, and it is no longer available to download and install. On the 1 phone that still had the app showing, when I clicked on the icon, it opened into Google Maps. Like so many others here, I used it quite often, and hate the new (hidden) interface that we need to navigate just to get at it.
IMHO, if it ain't broke...don't fix it! (and it was most certainly not broken before).

I can't seem to find the box for automatic updates, anyone know how to find that on the Google Play website? I'd really like to keep this from updating again.

While looking at the app in the market, click on the menu button of your phone. The update check box should be one of the options that come up. At least that's how it works if you have ICS or JB.

I find this sort of strange. I have a Galaxy S4, my wife has a Note 2 and my son has a Bionic. Maps has updated on all three phones and none have lost the Nav app. I have read several threads where people are complaining that the Nav icon disappeared and have see where it has happened to several people and several it hasn't happened to. I wonder why it happens on some and not on others? No answers here just observations and more questions.

I've read the same thing, but here's another twist. Maps updated on my Nexus 7 running JB 4.3 and navigation is gone. I updated Maps manually on my Galaxy S4 running JB 4.2.2, and nav is still there.

I have a Nexus 7 (gen 1) and used the map feature and directions a lot. After getting the maps update, I did something picking it up the other day and NAV with verbal instructions came on. I have not been able to figure out how to bring it up again and typically, I have had no luck finding directions on how to do so? Any suggestions?

I like the new version, but trying to get directions out of it is a royal pain in the ......

I use Nova launcher. I created a shortcut to navigation within maps and put the blue arrow back in the dock.

The new Navigation isn't as simple as it was but it isn't difficult.
