Help How do I get ICS / Android 4.0

Hi all,

After researching which phone I want as an upgrade, today I bought a Motorola Razr Maxx (in the UK on T-Mobile). One of the main reasons I bought this model is because I wanted ICS and the user interface it brings.

As expected the phone came with Gingerbread and the store said its "upgradeable" to ICS. My question is how do I go about updating it? I've tried going to settings, about phone, system updates... but it just says I'm on the latest version available.

How do I get ICS installed? has anyone else had this in the UK or on T-Mobile?

thanks in advance.

You will get it automatically over the air when T-mobile have it available ( I'm surprised they don't already maybe need to ask them when).
Unless you root your phone and download some software to get a beta version beforehand which I don't recommend.
I have had it now for 2 months on Vodafone and it came over the air and I got a notification in bar asking if I wanted to install it. It quite good but not much different than gingerbread, plus you have to do a factory reset after install to avoid bugs.

Thanks for the reply, I've decided to sell it instead, not really interested in rooting etc. the gingerbread os is too dated unfortunately. Think I'll try a Samsung s3 with a metal battery cover.

I realised the phone is actually unlocked, if I put a Vodafone SIM in and try to check for an update will that work?

I have a RAZR on T mobile and I just went through the system update as you did and lastnight it uninstalled Gingerbread and replaced it with ICS with no problems. Just keep checking and trying the system update, you will get there.
