Help How do I get notifications to vibrate?

If I put the phone on vibrate via the volume rocker or notification bar, nothing happens when an email or text comes in. I get the message, but the notification is silent.

However, if I get a phone call it will vibrate. Suggestions?

Ok, this may sound weird but at least from my experience its how it works. Go into your main sound settings, and ensure you have the vibration box checked off because if not, even though you toggle vibration on, say, the sms app it won't vibrate. Then, after making sure your main setting is good, go into the mail app and sms app and enable vibration within each apps settings menu. Now when you put the phone on vibrate only it will actually do so for each. Hope this makes sense as well as helps.

Now it vibrates. All the time. Whether on vibrate or not....

Yikes. This is way more complicated than it should be.

What am I doing wrong here? I checked off "vibrate" in each gmail account, as well as the fb settings.

Damn thing won't stop buzzing while set to "sound" now.
