Hello! :D

I would absolutely LOVE to install Android on my Raspberry Pi Model 2! :-)

I found some info - but it did not seem very clear to me?

I have got a 32 gb card and need to know how to go about the process if you would love to help me out.

Right now I don't have a linux machine available... but will fix this ASAP if need be. :D

In fact I just want to go back to ubuntu - windows 7 can be such a pain...

Is it even possible right now or is there an image available?

I am pretty sure it is around but I struggled to find it.

I know that the Pi model 2 is very new so I will 500% understand if it is not possible for now or extremely buggy or not there yet.

Is there hardware acceleration or am I asking for too much? :D

And if possible... how can I go about making my own image and installing it myself if I am bored and would love to get started on said interesting project?

Please let me know! :)

I am only a basic programming but really want to get my hands dirty and learn more!

Thanks!

:D

Thanks man! lol me el stupido sometimes :D

xD

hahaha :)

But does anybody actually know how to do this?

dang... there has got to be somebody that knows what to do here?

Thanks Thom :)

I did some research when I first got my Pi 2 but didn't get anywhere. Android depends heavily on hardware acceleration, which isn't (currently) available for Android on the Pi which means that the display would lag like woah: http://forum.xda-developers.com/har...run-android-5-0-android-tv-raspberry-t3020131

XDA does have a pretty decent Hardware Hacking sub specific to the Pi that might be helpful though: http://forum.xda-developers.com/hardware-hacking/raspberry-pi

Ahhhh thank you codesplice! :D

You are such a star! :)

That is what I thought sadly. I had a feeling there was a Pi Android version but thought that yes it did not have hardware acceleration like you say that is a real bummer

:/

Well I a quite sure in time that will come about and be rectified / corrected.

What if I can look into trying to get hardware acceleration into Android and download that image anyway and try do it myself?

That will be a very interesting project don't you think?

I have no idea how to do this but want to give it a shot! :D

Do you also have a Raspberry Pi 2 Model B as well?

It is veeeeeeeery good hardware for such little money. Only cost me like bugger all - about R500 or that's about 40 dollars plus minus.

Have you done any interesting things with your pi yet?

Where can you get the screen for it?

There are some crazy awesome things you can buy for it! :D

Wow almost forgot to say thank you codesplice :)

I honestly don't have a clue what would be required to get Android up and running on completely unsupported hardware, and only the vaguest idea of how to build a ROM for a device that already runs Android. ;)

I do have a Pi2, though I haven't done anything completely interesting with it yet. I've bought some parts to make it a smart garage door controller, but just haven't had the time to kludge it together yet. Too many other things going on.

You can get various screens from places like adafruit: https://www.adafruit.com/products/1601

Wow that is pretty kick ass man!

Wow that is sooooo cool... ohh I wan to do something cool like that as well

:D

Yes... time is such a hectic thing hey?

I also have got like no times these days it is scary

:/

Too much work and other things

>:/

Ugh I just wish things would slow down so I could actually have some fun with my other toys like my pi :(
Wow the garage door sounds very very cool... hmm.. I wonder what else I could do with it?

Do you connect to your pi with wifi and use your cell phone by any chance to control your garage door?

How did you do that and what wifi dongle did you get to work with your pi?

I have got the Edi-Max AC version wifi dongle - that I heard does work with the pi - but might have to do some driver installing in linux to get it to work with my pi hehe :)

But I have no idea what to do with it for now... hmm it is such an interesting little guy hey for very little money.

Thanks codesplice for your help! :)

:D

I haven't built it yet, but I do currently have the Pi connected to my wifi. I just used whichever adapter was cheapest on Adafruit.
