Root how do i know my phone type

Thanks.
What info do I need to know about rooting my phone.

Since you are Marvel with S-ON follow these.

But before you proceed I suggest you find out if you are A510a, A510b or A510e (you phone version).

Connect your phone to computer via USB. Go to Google Play and sign in. Try install an app and it will show you your phone version.

Also find out the phone's model no, which is the most important part. Take out your battery, and it should be under the battery starting with PG76XXXXX.

Can't the open just hit menu/settings/about phone?
No.

GSM phones use sim cards and are called Marvel. There are two types, A510e and A510b (Australia).

CDMA don't use sim cards and are called Marvelc. They are type A510c, and most are Virgin Mobile or MetroPCS.

Which method got the model figured out? Still not sure why the "about phone" method won't work....My tablet is Wi-Fi only, so not cdma or GSM....under settings/about phone , it gives me the model...

Right, but that same menu on an HTC phone only shows the generic phone model, not the specific type.
