How do I remove an icon from the bottom taskbar?

Hi, I have an LG Enlighten and by mistake, I dragged the icon for Polaris Viewer to the bottom taskbar, and it went on top of the message icon and I can't remove it at all. I tried dragging it down to the garbage but it won't budge.
I've removed an icon before from that bottom taskbar, but I just can't remember how I did it.

Also note that different phones use different launchers, so not all operations will be the same.

Rather than delete can you drag to replace with an icon you would rather have there?
