How do I remove Auto Boost?

I have somehow acquired a programme that may or may not be called auto boost. Every now and then I get a message Auto Boost completed with a blue rocket on a green background. Its not in the apps list or in the running apps. How do I delete it? It was on an old phone and has reinstalled on my new Samsung Galaxy A5 that I've just had a few days.

I see a couple of phone "optimizers" using a rocket as a symbol to "boost" your phone's performance. Not sure which one you have based on the description. The next time you get a notification, pull down the notice and long-press right on the message. It will show you which app is generating the notification. Then you can uninstall it.

This is the culprit. I can find the same picture in play store.

By the way, the app is very good, full of essential features

Those "features" don't really do anything to make your phone work any better, at least not in the long run. Dumping caches and clearing memory is counterproductive to a smooth user experience. Plus, this is obviously a platform for adware, if not spyware/data mining.

I have looked all through my phone and cannot for the life of me find where it is hiding to delete it... if this is a Samsung thing, I'm throwing this phone in the bin and going back to iPhone!
Can someone please tell me how to get rid of this auto boost thing??!!

Since this seems to have popped up again (pardon the pun) I can only assume that this crappy adware has been bundled into a recently updated app. If you can remember the day it started happening and then go back to the play store and see which apps updated that day or slightly before I'll bet you'll find your culprit.

That sounds easy but think of how many apps are updated every day/week and better yet how many people will remember EXACTLY when the annoying app began to be annoying? A shot in the dark at best. I personally believe Google is behind this because of the advertising while the app is "boosting" whatever! But it sure is friggin' annoying!

I had the same problem earlier today. I looked for an application with that Auto Boost name but I couldn't find it. Luckily I remembered that I downloaded a new application this morning (the sound boosting equalizer app) and I did the process of elimination by removing/uninstalling the only new thing I installed, and guess what? It worked! The annoying Auto Boost doesn't pop up anymore.

I suggest you take a look at any new apps you recently downloaded since this issues came up and remove it/them. It worked for me. I hope it helps.

Cheers!
Alex

Well I'd remember because I would act immediately I saw a full screen popup.
Believe that Google is behind it if it makes you feel better - that's what conspiracy theories are for. But that is what that is, and I say this as someone who is no great fan of Google. If you think about it rationally, ads which annoy all users are not helpful to their business.

If you want a bit of help, check the permissions of your apps (there are apps that can help with this). Things with the ability to draw over other apps would be the first I looked at (of course that has legitimate uses too).

Wow it seems like we're all having this problem. It literally keeps coming up on my s8+. I'm gonna do some research and get back.

Is it only Samsung phones this pop-up is appearing on? Although Samsung did ditch their Cheetah Mobile partnership a while back now.

There was Clean Master SDK that came on some phones, and it would occasionally show a "Boost" or "Optimize" rocket pop-up.

Asilva gave me a clue when he mentioned the sound booster/equalizer. I uploaded that app 3 weeks ago but didn't start getting the annoying "auto boost" until about 2 weeks ago. As soon as I removed the app the AB pop-ups stopped! You never know !

wait a little so that the user doesn't suspect you so quickly.

Yep. That's why I suggested looking at recently updated apps as well as recently installed. The fact that there were multiple reports here in a short period of time is a dead giveaway. I would also recommend going to the play store and giving the app a one star rating with a warning that the app pushes intrusive adware. Let them know you know and warn others in the same boat.

I'm glad you were able to solve the issue. It sure is annoying. For some reason it seems that this issue is associated with the boosting types apps (volume booster / sound booster, etc).

I hope others have the same luck.
