Help How do I remove write protection?

Hi, im having problems with my phone- i cant take pictures, look at the ones i took, delete songs, download pictures, ect. When i try to delete files it says that i cant because it is write protected, how can i change that?

Is this the internal storage (including /sdcard), or a removable sd card? And if the latter, what OS version are you using?

I assume you've tried a simple reboot.

Hi. i posted the question. No, its a removable sim card. What do you mean by a reboot?

I meant rebooting the phone.

So the problem is with the removable SD card. Have you tried unmounting and remounting it from Settings > Storage?

No i haven't, how do i do that?

Reboot the phone? Power it down then power it up again.

Mount/unmount? Settings > Storage and then look for an option to unmount the card.

Its doesnt even show me that the sd card is in. There is a button that say mount sd card but i cant press it

Power down, remove card, reinsert card, power up.

If you have a usb card reader it might be worth checking that a computer can read the card. One possibility is that the card itself has failed, and reading it with another device would allow us to rule that out (or not if other devices also can't read it).

What is a usb card reader?

It's a device that you plug into a usb socket on a computer, then inserts the microSD card into it, and the computer can read the SD card. They are pretty inexpensive.

Few computers come with a socket for reading microUSB directly, which is why I suggested a card reader (though many have full size SD readers, so if you have a microSD to SD adapter, which some cards come with, that would be another possibility).

But if you don't know what a card reader is I doubt you have one. So have you tried removing and replacing the card?

No, nothing happened. If it helps i can tell you that except what i said at the top everything else works fine. Whatsapp, contacts, internet...
