Help How do I save pictures from the internet onto my Inspire?

Hello, I just got my HTC Inspire 4G the other day after having an iPhone for 2 years and I love it so far.

One thing, though...how do I take screenshots/save images from the internet/facebook onto my phone? I've tried everything....the only options the menu that pops up on the image gives me is to "share" it via email, messages etc or to set it as a contact photo or wallpaper.

I just want the photo saved into my gallery-is that possible? I read you have to use a PC program to do it-is that true? If so where/how do I get it?

This is the only thing about the phone I don't like so far....

If you're wanting to save images that are on a webpage, long-press on the image and a menu should pop up giving you the option to "Save Image". I believe it then saves the image to the "download" folder on your SD Card. Is that option not coming up for you?

As for screenshots, unfortunately, the stock Inspire doesn't have the ability to take screenshots directly from the phone. You need to connect it to a PC and run some command-line stuff. However, you can root the phone and many, if not all, custom ROMs have enabled that functionality. If you're not familiar with rooting, take some time to read through the "All Things Root" forum. You should find pretty much everything you need to know on how to root and flash custom ROMs.

Edit: I just discovered that the tool used to root the Inspire has been discontinued and removed from the development site. So until someone else posts it somewhere, you might not be able to root your phone.

That menu doesn't pop up for me when I press the image unfortunately. I will look into how to "root" my phone......thanks

When you press on the image, are you holding it or just tapping it? You need to hold it for a second or so. Are you using the stock browser app? You may want to try a different browser. Opera Mobile and Dolphin are good ones. Right now, it may be difficult to root since the most effective tool is no longer available.

I downloaded Dolphin and I'm now able to save images from the browser/facebook. YAY!!!!!! Thank you so much lol.

I downloaded Dolphin and I'm now able to save images from the browser/facebook. YAY!!!!!! Thank you so much lol.

Interesting that it didn't work in the stock browser. I just tried it myself and I got a pretty long menu that included "save image". Either way, glad you got it with Dolphin.
