How do I start this APAD GOOGLE ANDROID?

I just purchase the apad google android 7 inch touch screen. I turned it on and the only thing it does is show the Android Robot. It came with a mini disc that does nothing and diretions which might as well be on a business card and thats all. Can anyone get me started with this. Hope I didnt buy a lemon. I purchased i for my son's Christmas present
