How To How do I text on the Droid?

Cyrus

Lurker
How do I text people without going through the contacts or having to remember their numbers when I use the Messaging app? I try to add their name and it just texts to the associated numbers that the letters represent. There is no option to add people you want to next other than typing in their number. What am I missing?

What you said you are doing should work. When I go in to the messaging app and start typing a name, say for my mom, Tammy, there is a list that comes up below the the box I am typing in. The first entry in that list is, as you said, the numbers that correspond to the letters, but the second item is the entry from contacts.

I would try checking into the formatting of your contacts and making sure there isn't anything screwy in there.

Guardian06 helped me figure it out... you have to classify their number as a mobile and not as the default home.

thanks!

If you have numbers that you text frequently you can add shortcuts to the home screen.

Long press on the home screen - shortcuts - direct message. This also works for dialing.

when your sending a TX message can you look at your contact list and check the people you want to tx, ie more then one person at a time?? in stead of typing there name out???
