how do i turn off this setting

the setting where you move the phone and it lights up to see if you have a message. id rather just press my button

Hi, go into your settings, look for Active Display and disable it via the top checkbox. Ironically this is one of my favourite features of the phone...

Mine too ... a great way to check the time while in the meeting as opposed to them seeing you look at your watch.

I thought it was dumb when I first got the Maxx. After a week I thought it was great.

FYI, because of the type of display in this phone, it's only the pixels needed to display the active display info that are illuminated. It uses very little battery.
