Help how do I use my own notification and ringtone sounds?

I downloaded an iphone notification sound and I cannot select it. I even created media/audio/notifications on my SD card and put it in there but it still doesnt show up when I go to change my notification sound. What am I doing wrong?

Been a long time since I used sense, try finding the tone, long press then set as?

There's no option to set as.

I thought you just created a folder for audio on your SD card and then in there created /notifications, /ringtones and /alarms

No that doesnt work either...bit strange that nobody knows how to do this...

I may be barking up the wrong tree here but have you tried using something like Ringo Pro to find your sounds?

No I want to do this unaided.

ok I've worked it out for ringtones. You leave the sounds in the download folder that they arrive in when you send them to your phone, and in the music player you can select to use then as ringtones.

However, I cannot see how to do the same with notification sounds.

Hmm odd. Works on aosp and other phones. Just create that structure and they appear in list

ok it worked now but only after I restarted the phone after I'd created the folders and put the audio files in them....Surely I shouldnt have to do that?
