How do people record android games?

Hi I have a question. I see lots of youtube channels where people record the screen while playing games (not with a camera but with a screen recorder). They record very well without lag, it does not seem like a screen recorder app. I think they use some outside hardware or software. Can anyone tell me how they do this, I can't figure it out. How to record the best quality of android game screen?

I think there are screen recorder apps. Ive never used one but id guess it would require root access to work(?)

There's a few of them out there.

The one I used to use all the time was screencast.

It hasnt been compatible with my devices for almost a year though

I'd guess the highest quality way is the same as Xbox/PS3/PC, using a DVD recorder via HDMI input. Get a HDMI adaptor for the phone and it should work the same way
