Just wondering if anyone knows, what is the method certain sites, without advertising them, employs to get unlock codes?

Did they figure out the algorithm that spits out the codes?

Why would they charge for something that should be free? (Stupid question, but I'm cheap)

Anyone wanna try to create a simple program that can do this to share with the community for free?:D

Maybe stupid but I'm sure I'm not the only one thinking it.

I, too have thought about this. It seems like it would be easy to do this once you figure out how the code is determined

Call customer service, tell them you'll be out of the country and plan to use a local SIM card and they will give you an unlock code for free.

I can provide unlock code if you need one
Every post you have made so far has been you trying to sell something to somebody...an unlock code. Please dont spam this forum with that. Contribute, but no selling of any kind unless approved by a moderator.

OH CRAP So i was fooling around with the lock sim card thing and...well I thought I was locking it so people could not access my crap...nope I am now PUK locked out of my sim....what the crap do I do now?

Remove the IMEI before some eCrawler gets it and picked up by THE Chinese who is notorious for making clone phones and this time with your IMEI with it.

The unlock codes come directly from the manufacturers who create the IMEI as well (the unlock code is tied directly to the IMEI). I wouldn't post your IMEI online FYI as it is a unique number for your phone and it could be exploited, causing issues with which phone is the real one from the manufacturer. Many network carriers will provide you with an unlock code for free or at a small cost, but only after you have reached a certain length of time in your contract.

So does this mean I could call up the manufacturer and they'd give me an unlock code for my phone?

All you need to do is call custumer support and tell them you are giving it as a gift to some one who travles a lot. They usually don't have a problem with that and will give you the code on the spot for free.

MSMBC printed the new laws that on 26 Jan 2013, it is now Illegal to get the Unlock Code and use it on your cell phone.

Check it out:

Thread locked, this is now illegal, if anyone has an issue drop me a line.
