How do transfer texts off of Droid Eris to a Mac. Do I need an app or can I do it directly?

Is there a way that I can take all of my text messages and transfer them to my computer? I plug my phone straight into the computer to get my photos off, you'd think I'd be able to do the same with texts. I'd rather not "host" them on a backup site, I just want the files on my computer. Or is there a way to transfer them to my new replacement Droid?

You could use Bluetooth File Transfer, or WiFi File Explorer, both free and in the market.

But I would suspect that you cannot read your text messages when they're on your Mac because you probably don't have an application there that can handle them.
I wouldn't be surprised if such an application were available, though. Maybe a fellow poster knows.

You could use SMSbackup, and then open the .xml file.

It's available via Marketplace or Appbrain - I use to backup my SMS messages, and save to my Mac quite happily.

I am trying to do the same thing. I just want my text messages on my computer so that i can save them, not to a new phone. I used SMSbackup+ and successfully backed up the files but i am not entirely sure what to do next. I have Windows Vista. Is it even possible to do this?
