how do u remove stuff off the main page

i have the same thing miltiple times on main page... how do i delete them???

Bottom of the screen, when you move it over the bar it will turn red. Let go and say goodbye.

if i do that on items in the......screen you get to by swiping up on the tab at the bottom it shows them getting trashed, yet they still show on the programs page. do i have to un-install them somehow instead of putting them in the trash?

From your main page, push the menu key, then select Settings -> Applications -> Manage applications, then select the application you want to remove, then press Uninstall. It will be removed from all pages, screens, menus, etc. unless you download and install it from the marketplace again.
