Root How do you flash back to stock recovery??

I've looked yet this noob can not find...

I am unlocked....

S-ON

No root...

On Stock....

Want to be sure I can get back to stock recovery to accept OTA...

I have the image file...

What do I do...

Me so stooopid...
 
Well, as far as I know, if you've installed one of the ICS leaks, the only way "back" for you is to have S-Off on your phone. Before getting S-Off, I was stuck on the latest ICS leaks with no road back but now I can re-install the last stock, un-rooted OTA.

So, unless something has changed, you'll have to go through this:

S-off is Official!!! With Instructions... - xda-developers

before you can go back. It looks very "Rube Goldberg" and it scared me to try at first, but the hardest part was getting my timing down right with the "wire trick". :nurse:

As always, read up thoroughly and make sure you're ready and willing to go forward because it's your phone!

if you have flashed a custom recovery permanently,you can replace it with the stock one,just like you flashed it :)

either as a PH98IMG file,or the fastboot flash command.

the stock 2.01.605.11 recovery is linked at the bottom of the noob friendly rootguide OP.

just holler if you have further questions :)
 
Ok...

I guess I am looking for the easiest way to do this and just guess I need a walk through...

I thought this would be as easy as dropping it on my sd card and going from there... but even with that I am still confused after reading everything I have been able to get my hands on about "flashing"...

I can say I am a total noob to this...

I have the recovery file... PH98IMG-2.01.605.11-vigor-recovery.zip Does it need to be renamed??? unzipped???

I just don't know what to do with it and how to get it back on my phone...

Can anyone dumb this down for me and give me a walk through?
 
.... id like to know how this problem was solved lol. i downloaded the PH98img and the md5 sums dont seem to be right after i put it in my miniadb file, why not? am i missing something? help please

what are you comparing the md5 to? i dont think i listed an md5 for the stock recovery. if youre comparing it to the md5 of amon 3.15,then no,it wont match that ;)

what you should get for the stock recovery is this:
PH98IMG-2.01.605.11-vigor-recovery.zip 5e2f77d90d4cdfc0a221113ba52435a7

be aware,however,that since you have attempted to apply the OTA file with a custom recovery,you have changed some other factors that we dont know of,and the OTA will likely not apply at this point. ive never gotten it to work on my thunderbolt after the fact.

you can try reflashing the stock recovery,but do not be discouraged if the OTA still fails to apply. at this point,you may need to wait for the 3.14.605.12 RUU to be released,or you may need to relock and run the full gingerbread RUU(2.01.605.11) in order to get the OTA to work

kindly point me in the direction for "relocking" and running the gingerbread ruu... i really want this now lol, ill poke around and see if i can figure it out

alright, got it relocked and got the update, super excited. now to unlock again? im not sure, definatly enjoyed removig bloatware and the differant roms, but did not like having to reload all the apps all the time... maybe later

you can unlock just like you did the first time,using your original unlock_code.bin. you will just need to use a different superuser for ICS.
