How do you get google now?

The typical way to access it is (depending on your phone) either to swipe up from the (on screen) home button or to hold the (capacitive) home button.

I have the razr maxx.. I guess I don't understand. what do you mean slide up from the on screen home button. I tried holding the home button and it brings up the last apps I used.

Press and hold the search button on the far right side. That will bring up Google Now. Enter text in the search box or touch the microphone to speak your search.

I did this and it just brought up the search? Is that all it does? How do I configure it to do alerts and what not?

Can you attach a screen shot? Sorry, I'm a little confused. I don't have this phone so I'm trying to help as best I can.

Edit: sorry I thought this was a different phone. If it isn't figured out by the time I get home I'll look into more
