Not sure how to start this. I have had a droid for the past couple of years so I am pretty familiar with the OS. Just upgraded to a RAZR MAXX. Never used the email on the phone but have been dwelling into it lately. I have used Outlook on my laptop for years. After doing quite a bit of research I have come to the conclusion I can't sync my contacts between outlook and Gmail because of the different contact folders I have set up in outlook. All the sync apps I have seen won't distinguish the contact subfolders in outlook. Gmail uses more of a filter system for contacts than different folders.
My question is if you wanted to continue using outlook and have access in the cloud so to speak, how would go about it? Would you move alll your contacts in outlook into one folder so you can keep your contacts between outlook and gmail in sync. I don't know of any way to filter my contacts in outlook other than folders. So it will screw me up if have to put them all in one folder in order to sync with gmail.
Currently outlook downloads my mail and leaves a copy on the server for seven days. After seven days it deletes it. I would like to do the same with gmail if possible. This way I can handle the email in outlook but could reference it if need be on my phone.
I am quite confused and am looking for ways everyone else is handling this. I know its being done, I just don't know exactly how.
I don't mind changing clients on my laptop or my droid. Mail will be handled primarily on the laptop. I am just looking for a way to sync the laptop info and the droid info.
