How do you save a picture sent to you in a text?

I have never had this problem before, but with this phone I cannot save a picture I received in a text. I try long pressing the picture, I try hitting the three dots. I am using the text program that came with the phone, and I use the Google photos to view pics.

On mine with stock app, long press on image in coversation thread hit 3 dots at top right, click "save attachment"

You long press the entire message (just long press the white space adjacent to the picture) and then three dots -> save attachment

Thanks guys. I'm coming from a LG G3 and it is different. The long press the message itself works for me. I kept trying to press the picture itself.

Haha. Happens to the best of us. I've made several mistakes to when switching to a new device... I hope everything else is going well and I'm glad your question was answered.
