how does astro work

just trying to manage my apps now i have my memory card. i have a few map things like google maps etc. can i put all these similar apps into the one folder so they are in the one place and save me some space. would i be right in thinkin i can do that with astro.

Any apps pre-installed or downloaded from the Android Market are stored in your phone memory and cannot be moved to your SD card. This functionality is not available until Android 2.2.

ok but what if i wanted to create a folder called games and put all my game apps in it. is there a way to do that by just using the internal memory. sounds like a useful feature in 2.2 tho

I don't play with anything on the internal memory so I am afraid I can't answer your question. I don't know if you can do this by rooting your phone, that is a subject on which I have no knowledge. Maybe one of the other users here on the forum can give you some ideas.

Why are you so keen to move all your files around? Are you having problems with your phone?

well am not keen in rooting my phone since i don't have a pc tho the pre installed stuff is kinda annoying. i spose im just a tidy freek and i want to clear up my app menu a bit so it is easier to find stuff my phone is great (apart from the whole can't sync my contacts part). i tried adw launcher and launcher pro but never really liked them that much cause think it makes my app icons too small on my mini pro's screen. though might change my mind when im bored of sony's lol

i guess you cant just put folders to another folder once the application has already been installed <sd card>. you might get an error while launching the application. better safe than sorry lol

actually you may do so...
maybe adding folders for photo and music.
but deleting im not so sure...
maybe if there is an expert here that could specify which are the important folders on your SD card then we can start deleting.

the SD card folders is quite a mess. specially when you install apps that require access to you SD card.

i have used file manager apps and they allow you to group your apps into categories. e.g put games in a games folder etc and tools in a tools folder. have found sum that even allow you to have short cuts on the app menu but i guess just wonder if ther is a way to do it more permanent. cause this still has the games in the app menu i just want some way to actually move them into a folder that is visible in the menu. would be good cause instead of having 7 pages of apps i could cut it down to 3 and would be alot easier to navigate.
