How does it work when you use somebody else's NE2?

My wife is jonesing for a new phone but the only NE2 available in our family package is my mom's who isn't interested in upgrading at the moment.

Can I use the NE2 on my mom's # to get my wife a new phone on her number? Will verizon help me do this or will they try to give me some kind of run around?

Nope should be no problem. Also if possible only do a 1 year, with the policy change it makes more sense.

Would I still get the NE2 pricing with only a one year contract?

I see what you're saying about the length of the contract...no benefit if there is no 2 yr discount anymore

I think so, there is a thread somewhere that explains this. If you are in contract now, you get NE2 (I think it applies to 1yr).

You can use her upgrade on another line but be aware that your mother's contract will be extended.

technically it's my contract, ie. my name is on the bill. but, since it's a family share plan, wouldn't all the numbers be extended?

It's not really a big deal, we are not planning on switching anytime soon.

May just wait until my wife's upgrade is available. It's just around the corner on Feb 6 and there really isn't anything available that excites me. I have an incredible so I don't want her to get one of those. Even though I love mine, I want her to get something else so I can play with it! haha, is that evil of me?

The New Every 2 discount only applies to 2 year contract terms and then it would be the last one used, and also it is only available up to 3 months after the date of eligibility with the new upgrade policy.

I have a family plan with 3 lines.

Each line has it's own plan expiration date... As you already know each line has it's own upgrade date.

I just used our child line (the phone we have for when our children go off without us... it's not THEIR phone, it's just one we give them when they're off with friends so we can keep up with them) upgrade to upgrade MY phone recently.

The child line contract was extended and their upgrade date was changed, but mine was unaffected. I got the DX in November, and my next upgrade is in August... yeah... 4G phone!

Thanks for all the help guys.

We really aren't worried about expiration dates of contracts, we aren't big upgraders/service switchers. Heck, the only reason we are with verizon is b/c att had no coverage (go figure) at the house we moved into 4 years ago.

Just to add to this, I believe you can take the date of the NE2, but if I remember correctly you will not be able to use the discount that the main line gets when they use their NE2.

Swapping upgrades is simple, but it does extend the other persons contract as stated. But like you said, since you're not going anywhere anyway then it's no big deal. I added a line to get my DX last July, I transfered the phone to my number, and activated an old flip phone for my ex-finacee's daughter.

So now my number has an upgrade available in April. So what I'm wondering is what is the differen e now that the NE2 is going away, or is it only going away for new customers?
