How does the Atrix categorize your media from the SD Card?

As in, pictures and video, not music (that's another issue). I'm used to HTC and Samsung where just making a new folder on the SD card will show as a different album in Gallery.

Not so with the Atrix, I have my SD card in there now and when I go to Gallery>My Library the only options up top are Albums/Location/Tags/Timeline and when I press the menu button I can only sort by A-Z or Date. In Albums view it only shows All Videos and All Photos. I notice when I long press a pic in the All Photos album I can then add them to an album by creating a new one, but why would I want to be doing that on the phone with near 2000 pics and vids.

So is there a different folder on the SD card I can make to drop these folders into or does the phone have to create independent directories for the SD card contents?

With the GB update, Motorola Screwed up the Gallery app.

Download the old Gallery (The Stock FroYo App) from here:
https://market.android.com/details?id=com.cooliris.media&feature=search_result

Use that and you can make the folders ANYWHERE with ANY NAME and it will pick them up.

Remember, /mnt/sdcard is the INTERNAL media storage on the Atrix, and /mnt/sdcard-ext is the removable SD card slot.

I have folders on both the internal storage (SDcard) and the SDcard (SDcard-ext) and that gallery app picks them right up.

ah sweet. Thanks! Don't know why I never thought about looking on the market for something else but I sorta liked the pic preview screen at the front, was wondering if you could choose which pics show cause it seems to just show the oldest pictures.
Anyway this is like the Gallery on Samsung phones I've used, pretty good. Now I'll look for that video player too..
