How easy is the S3 to use one handed?

For those of you who already own the S3: does the lightness and curvature of the phone make it easy to use one handed? How is its portability?

Just curious to see the general consensus of everyone who owns it... figured it might be worth starting a new topic on it.
 
I was worried at first but for me its ok with the right keyboard.

My little finger finds its way to supporting the bottom edge of the phone though, I find when typing
 
When holding with my right (tiny) hand I was concerned about being able to reach the the menu key with my thumb
 
It's doable, I just can't reach the top left hand corner of the screen very easily (I'm right handed). Not a deal breaker for me.
 
Mostly fine. Sometimes it's a little bit of a stretch for me and if I have positioned my hand too high up the phone screen I have to perform a concert pianist-like virtuoso move to stretch my thumb down to the back button.

I have started to put my most used app icons towards the right side of the screen ;)

It's about time companies started designing apps with the most important features towards the bottom of the phone so that they're reachable!

I got rid of the Samsung browser on day one because some genius thought the best place for the refresh button was the top left hand corner of the browser even though the screen is massive and the majority of the world is right handed!

Have you noticed that the refresh is at the top left side of almost all computer browsers too? :rolleyes: I think putting it in the same place people are used to looking for it is a good decision.

Designing a touch input device application in the same way as a mouse input one is absurd. They're very different and should be designed differently.

Why not put the refresh button and url bar at the bottom of the screen which is easier to reach with a thumb? How is that a bad idea other than "because it's different to the norm"?

Because then its going to jump up with the keyboard and that may be annoying. Personally I like my input fields to remain static regardless of other activities such as pulling up the keyboard

They could always make it optional. The input field moving wouldn't bother me because it would always be in one of two places. It's not like you'd forget where it is!

Haha. Just like I know I can go to lesleys tea rooms at the top of steep hill, but its much easier to have tea at the bottom of the hill. I know I can have tea in either one of two places though ;)

The steep hill analogy applies more to the refresh button being at the furthermost point from where your thumb is likely to be! But I see your point :p
