How important is a removable battery to you?

I have never had to pull a battery during the two years that I've had either the S2 or S4. My desire for a removable battery stems from the fact that lithium ion batteries have a finite life. I am a VERY heavy user. I treat my phone like laptops, often having them plugged in during heavy usage. Due to this I have never had a battery last me a full year before replacement was desirable. Both my HTC Incredible and Samsung Galaxy S2 needed the battery completely replaced within their first year and I expect the same from my S4.
I do not need to pull the battery daily, so I don't quite need easy access like on a Samsung. The Nexus 4 would be OK because removing the battery is fairly easy. However a totally sealed phone like the HTC One is a no go for me.
I would make an exception based on cost. I typically spend $600+ on an unlocked phone and try to get 2 years out of it. I wouldn't mind paying half that for a Nexus and replacing annually.

Aye, I do this as well. Except with the 50% off accessory order I nabbed a spare battery + charger for $25, so now I get some battery swap love.

For me having a removable battery is mainly important because i tend to hand devices down to my friends/family after a year or two. after 2ish years in my exp a battery does not hold its charge all that well and needs to be replaced so i preffer having that ability. I never carry a spare battery around though.

Non-removable batteries and any benefits they give is like getting a nice, fast, stylish car or truck and accepting the hood being welded shut. None of us would ever buy such a vehicle even if you get all those advantages. Same for phones. I just wish tablets gave us the same choice
So we jemmy the hood open, and show the man what we need. :thumb: Although for me the "man" is a local backstreet phone bodger or a trader on Taobao.
"No User Serviceable Parts Inside." never did have much meaning for me.

I would prefer a removable battery unless the one without it has definite advantages that are relevant (to me) that warrants me considering it heavily. Reasons:
1. Swapping batteries - much faster than using power banks.
2. My usage pattern - I tether heavily. It comes when your data plan allows you to exceed 40GB and pay only $20 for it. Over the years I've seen this put strain on the batteries, wearing them out faster than if you don't tether as much as I do. I usually wear out batteries in a year or so.
3. Extended lifespan of the phone- as the phone ages, parts for it are harder to come by. An example would be the old Galaxy Fit we have at home. If Samsung cannot give me replaceable batteries for it, I can always get a Chinese battery (not all of them are duds. I know some companies who actually give quality products). This allows me to use them even when manufacturer support has ceased. Heck my 3310 is still alive because of MSM batteries.
I use my older phones as my work phone, which only needs calls and SMS.
So yeah, removable and easily replaceable batteries are important to me.

Both my last 2 tablets and both my last and current phone haven't had removable batteries and I don't think it's hindered me in any way whatsoever.
