How is it without T-mobile data plan?

I'm thinking of getting the MyTouch 3G without a Tmobile contract using my prepaid SIM and free wifi (it'll be my Ipod Touch with a phone attached). I know the G1 could do without a data plan, but it requires some jumping through hoops such as logging in Google with a SIM card that has data plan then enable wifi, turn off data sync, etc. and swap SIM card again. Just wondering if it's the same deal with the myTouch 3G or can I just plug a prepaid SIM in and as long as I don't use any apps that requires data connection, I should be fine?

Without a contract, you'll be paying $400 for the phone. I don't know if T-Mobile will sell you a phone without a data plan.

You might be better off getting a Dev phone from Google, and I figure you can put any SIM you want into that.
