How is this possible? GContacts Sync

I have my Google contacts syncing with my phone. I also have my wife's Google account on my phone, but only syncing her email....no contacts, and vice versa for her phone. However, my Android Starred contacts keep showing up on her phone and web GMail contacts under Android Starred. If I delete it off her phone or in GMail it actually deletes the contact from my phone and GMail. How is that possible when neither phone is setup to sync contacts from the other account? It's like just having the accounts on the phone automatically sync certain contact groups whether you have them set to sync or not.

Contacts are by default synced. Unless you have turned off contact sync in menu-settings-accounts and sync-your wife's google account.

Alternatively you can go to contacts-menu-settings-display options-uncheck the options under your wife's account.

That is how I have it setup. I add the account and uncheck the sync Contacts in the main account settings. Then I also uncheck all the folders in the Contacts View settings. So there are no check marks on the account or folder sync options. Yet still only the "Android Starred" folder is synced between accounts. Weird.
