It's not that simple--for a number of reasons. First, the obvious, that someone will drive by, see it, and take it. No. Probably not. Older stuff like that tends to not attract any takers in my neighborhood. Plus, getting it to the curb would be a big ordeal, for me anyway! I could ask my gardener to do it, but then if no one takes it I'll be stuck on trash pickup day. That's because we have to dispose of old electronics 'properly'--which means the trash/recycling folks wouldn't take it. Then it'd be sitting there on the curb...and I'd have to figure out what to do next. :hmmmm2: (We can either take stuff like that to the designated pickup place, or--since I have backyard pickup [because I'm disabled]--I can request X number of special pickups per year. I THINK I'm already over my limit...by several times...but they've been nice about it and let it slide.

Um, I have an Atari Mega4 with a third party internal hard drive, Motorola 68000 cpu. Had 4 megs of internal memory at a time when the standard pc came with 640K (yes, Kilobytes!). Circa 1990/91. Um, but haven't tried turning it on for about 10-15 yrs!!
Developed a glitchy monitor connection.
Suppose technically it isn't my CURRENT computer. But I do currently still own it. Hee hee.
I might also have an Amstrad 128 in a cupboard somewhere. The 128 was for 128K of memory. Circa Commodore 64 era - about 1985 or so. It ran 3" floppies. Yes, 3", not 3.5" floppies. Haven't turned it on for some time, either.

About 3 yrs old, Intel I7, 8Gbs of ram, 1 Tb hard drive, Nvidia GE GTX 560 1Tb, Colosuss High Definition Video Capture Card, Windows 7 64bit . Does the job.
Oh, and a 3 month old Samsung Galaxy Note Pro 12.2 tablet (Wifi only version) about to get an injection of a 64 Gb SD card. (And is occassionally connected to External 1Tb USB hard drives.)
It's cool! Really Cool. Fabulous 2560 by 1600 screen.

I resemble that remark.
My PC, by the way, is just about ten years old, was cutting-edge-ish when I inherited it, has extra RAM and USB ports, still runs great b u t v e r y s l o w.
The computer on my lap (MBP), a little over 2 years. The computer in the other room (Mac Mini with a 4-bay drive enclosure) about 2 weeks, and I've already taken it apart once.
My gaming desktop is on Craigslist for sale right now. I couldn't see using 150+ watts of power for what amounted to a file server when the Mini does the same and only draws 50 watts.
