How many apps do you have??

I am just curious to how many apps everyone has. I currently have about 10 apps installed. What about everyone else?
How many apps can stored without it really starting to affect the phones performance? 20, 30, 50 etc... Is there a certain memory requirement or something I should be looking for? I have a fear of having too many and having my phone suffer because of it.
I am from blackberry which didn't have many apps worth downloading, so this is all new to me.

Also how much room to SMS messages take up? I have had some converstions that are at a message count of a couple hundred. What is too much when it comes to messages?

Just did a quick count, and it's about 100
even more scary, I'm guessing about half of those are paid apps. Eeek.

As for performance, i dont think the number of apps installed affects it directly, it's more the amount of space left. I think android likes to have a few MB (around 20 IIRC) of internal storage left to play around with, and a chunk of free RAM (about 40-50MB) or things tend to get a bit bogged down. Also note that the number of widgets youre actually using (i.e. not just installed, but actually on your homescreen) can affect performance on older phones.

However everything i've said above was probably relevant in the android v1.5 days - things have probably changed drastically since then.

As for SMS count, i know that on older phones (or maybe older versions of android) having a large number of SMSs (in the thousands) could make the phone grind to a halt - there are lots of apps out there to backup/cleanup your SMS messes as a result. I'm not sure if this is still a problem on newer phones though.

Currently I have 91 apps installed on my Nexus One. some of them are installed to the sd card to keep a sufficient amount of free memory/storage internally, but the Nexus One is an older phone. I am sure your Inc2 has at least twice the internal storage as the N1, if not more. You've got plenty of room.

You can check by going to menu>settings>applications>manage applications and look at the bottom of the screen for each tab.

I am not one to save sms messages, so I have my thread limit set to 200 messages per thread. When the threshold is reached, the oldest messages drop off into oblivion. If you want to keep old threads, I'd recommend setting a thread count limit but back up old texts to a PC.

Thanks guys! Yeah don't keep my messages that long, i was just curious to to how many before it starts causing problems on the phone.

I have 208 market apps installed, and maybe 20 third party apps. I have no performance issues. I transfer a lot of apps to my sd card, I have plenty of memory left. I regularly download songs and especially manga by the score, android is more capable than you think.

256(243 user apps),250 on internal memory, no problems. I've had upwards 3000 text on the phone at once. probably could hand more but i never tried. your phone should be able to handle your demands
