How many are using Extended batteries vs Standard?

Returned my extended battery today because I get plenty of juice from my standard. Wake up at 7 and start really using it at 11 after class. Mid usage, texting, google, and pandora mostly, some gps. by 9 pm i have around %20-30. And I have come to realize that after 5% it lasts like another hour with heavy usage lol

I thought about getting the extended battery, but I don't care for how it looks and the lack of cases available for it. The Verizon rep showed me the iGo charger, which holds enough juice to fully recharge the standard battery. It's basically another battery with a USB connector on one end (to charge it) and a micro USB on the other (to charge a phone). It works for me, no need to mess with the cover, case and extra battery. And it was half the price of the extended battery.

Thinking about getting the extended but I was just camping this weekend and went from 98% at 5pm Friday to 13% at 11am Sunday on the standard battery. I did turn off data Friday night but not Saturday.

Dual extended batteries that I charge externally and then swap out in phone and run until dead, swapping out again.

I get 15+ hours on moderate to heavy use, and well over 28 hours on lighter use.

I haven't yet tried just putting the battery in and seeing when it dies with no use because, well, I bought the phone to be used, not to just sit there and look pretty.

Oh, and I have not performed any battery calibration reset, nor have I enabled any battery saving measures - it's all go 100% of the time.

is there a trick for the extended battery, ie. do i have to reset the battery stats or something, because it doesn't seem to be lasting any longer than the standard battery and it doesn't seem to take any longer to charge. It's almost as if the phone still thinks the battery is the standard battery. Thanks.

I heard that, when you receive the battery: don't charge it before use...put the battery into the phone (usually shows 20%) and run it until it dies.

Then charge it from "dead" and it will program the charging correctly.

FWIW _ I don't charge the battery in the phone at all. I charge it externally and run it completely dead in the phone.

I may try to perform a calibration reset tonight when I go to swap batteries.

Switched to extended in the first week. Not because I was having "bad" battery performance, but because it was on sale.

Happy with the extended!

^^^^^ that. I, too, bought the first Extended battery simply because it was on sale, and I already had the Shell / holster combo what could accommodate the extended battery.

I then bought a second one so I could swap out when needed.

I have the extended battery (got it monday so its only been 3 days or so, with maybe 3 full charges) and I can definitely tell the battery life increase but it still doesn't seem to be getting around the same time that other people are. So far i've had the battery off the charger for roughly 3 1/2 hours (charged it overnight) and used gps for about 15min, was online searching around online for another 10-15, and have sent some texts but my battery is already showing 70%. Just seems to be dying a little quicker then expected. Wifi - off, 3g/4g on all the time, screen timeout is like 30 seconds and i dont really click it on that often.

Standard battery here. I have a charger at home, on my desk at work, and in my car. Bought a home wall charger AND car charger for less than $3 on Amazon.

The standard battery works fine for me. I usually get around 16 hours of use with 4g on before it hits 30%. Yesterday after 16 hours my battery was still at 70% although that was very light use just a few calls, texts and some emails so pretty much just standby all day.

YMMV. Learn this acronym and you'll be a happier camper. The reason is that a lot of us have different things on our phones, in terms of apps, connectivity, widgets, etc. - and the drain is going to be quite different due to all of these and more.

I highly recommend that you watch the BIONIC Battery Life video series - it may be an eye opener for you.

Also, assuming that the 3.5 hours you have listed is not including the other 15 minutes of gps and 15 minutes online, that means that in 4 hours you've used up 30% of your battery. Extrapolating, that gives you about 13.3 hours of total charge.

I have a lot of connectivity going on, but few widgets, and no battery saver enabled - and I'm getting 15 hours easily with my BIONIC and the extended battery. However, I'm not charging the battery in the phone - I'm swapping out between 2 extended batteries, and letting the phone die pretty much every night (or else swapping out after 1 hour after getting the 5% charge left notification, whichever comes first). It's made a huge difference than charging in the phone, unless you let the battery also fully discharge before connecting to a charger.

I have 3 car chargers and 4 wall chargers, from my previous DROID - but I use the external battery charger and swap out extended batteries every 16 hours or so. Makes for an easier time.

the wall chargers never get connected to my phone anymore. Neither does the car charger (which charges the discharged extended battery 24/7).

See my comment above - different people have different levels of connectivity, widgets, etc. If the standard battery is lasting you that long, I'm betting you're not a heavy user of your phone - even with 4G speeds, if you were a heavy user, you would not get that kind of level unless you do not multitask at all - no widgets, no SoMed connectivity, and only surf, or make calls, or test, at any given time, without any combination of those. In your case an extended battery would be a waste of money.

Wow! So many of you are rocking the extended. I don't see how you guys can put up with the extra bulk (I think the Bionic is huge just with the stock battery), not to mention the extra $25. But, maybe that's because I work in front of a computer (I can charge it via USB).

Standard battery usually lasts a day for me without having to charge. When I do have to charge, I have a car charger and a USB cable (costs me $3 total).

Generally, I'm not a fan of extended batteries. But when I got the Bionic, I had the data issue and it was killing my battery. Since the battery was $25, I gave it a shot. I've since found some workarounds for the data issue and haven't seen a major battery drain event since, but after trying the extended battery, I found I had no problem with it. So what the hell, i already own it...might as well use it.

My GF also got a Bionic as her Dinc got stolen about a week or so after I got mine. She wasn't hesitant to go to such a big phone but with VZW offering to upgrade her early, we gave it a shot. I doubt she'll ever go to the extended battery. Good news is she can just swap with my standard battery when she needs. I have a charger on order already. Too bad I didn't think of this sooner. She left to meet a friend tonight with a low battery. Would have been a perfect time to be able to use it. I will say though that the Bionic is lasting much longer than her Dinc did. And we had stuffed the largest battery we could behind the stock battery door (Evo battery); the Dinc's extended battery was disproportionately large and had an odd shape to it.

My standard battery lasts me an entire day easily with 40% of a charge, my extended battery lasts an entire day and keeps me at 70%.

I can go two days without an issue of battery charge.
