Help How many using Exchange ActiveSync on EVO?

I'm just curious to see how many folks here, use the built in EAS of 2.2 vs. a program like Touchdown or Moxier Mail.

i use the native exchange as well as the native gmail app.

do you have a specific reason to ask? are you looking to get info on a particular app or you are just curious for no specific reason?

Well, I ask because I manage the IT at work. We currently run BES Express with various model BB devices. We're moving away from that, to EAS on Android. I have an EVO, my boss has a Fascinate.

I know how to set it up, synchronize and all that jazz, but I'm looking for a way to unsync certain folders, like Sent Items, without deleting them off of the Exchange server. So far, I've been unsuccessful at finding a solution.

Google has provided little/no help on finding a solution either.

google just uses microsoft exchange so i would contact someone connected to microsoft. google added the EAS into their OS form Microsoft and thats as fas as they go with it. the last mile is up to the IT department/cell carrier to fix any issues.

is the reason you want to not sync certain folders a security reason?

touchdown is a great app and is supported by the company who's exchange service im on. they also support the native EAS in the phone (after froyo).

so i would ask that sync folder question to a microsoft user base and work form that angle. i would imagine its possible but you may need to update your EAS server to get those new benefits..

just to follow up,

this member is looking to get his IT dept. involved in using Android on their system.

and lat me ask you kingp,

whats in YOUR wallet (couldn't resist) :D

no, what program do you use? do you need the ability to remote wipe?

again, touchdown is a great app. when i picked up thew hero on its launch day i had to use touchdown to get corporate mail. the IT dept. would not allow the stock htc email app as it was not secure enough. after froyo that changed and touchdown is no longer required in my case...

marctronixx,

hahahaha, thanks for asking. My wallet has nothing, it's all about the boss's...hahaha.
Ok well our setup is Exchange 2010 SP1, and we are currently using the native ActiveSync client on our devices. We currently have a Droid 2, Incredible, EVO and Fascinate in the wild. The rest are all Blackberry's connected through BESx.

I previously used the Moxier Mail app, back when I had the Samsung Moment, and that was when I began testing EAS on Android, and made the recommendation to ditch Blackberry. That version of Moxier mail was very old though, and was only marginally better than the native EAS client on the Moment.

The main issue I've noticed, is that the 2.2 devices are fine, 2.1 (on the Fascinate) is not, however. It's very quirky. It doesn't understand the ActiveSync policy and is generally useless. I had to create a dumb policy with disabled options (like timed device locking) just so the user could use the phone.

I'm curious to know if apps like Moxier Mail or Touchdown offer more granular features that the native EAS client doesn't. Does anyone know?

I'm using the native mail client and ActiveSync on my HTC EVO. I have a number of subfolders on my Exchange account. Only 3 subfolders show. One is a subfolder of a subfolder. I see no option to see any others. I did not choose the folders that are currently showing.

My question is how do I get subfolders to show, the ones I want? Is there something I have to set on Exchange side? I have no problem with the subfolders syncing, I just want to be able to see the ones I want.

I have "rules" on Exchange that move my mail to subfolders. This keeps my inbox small and I can quickly get to mail I "care" about. It would be great to be able to see the mail I "care" about from my phone.

Thanx.

I used to use the native client which I guess is part of HTC sense. But the pin code was annoying. So now I switched to touchdown. That way the pin code is just on that app and not the whole phone. Ijust wish touchdown could sync sharepoint calendars.
