Root How much Ram, Literally?

In the specs for the ZTE Avid it says 512MB, but there has been a couple reports that the Avid may have more than that?

Could someone use the terminal and type 'free' into it, then report back to us the number reported under total? The output will look like this:

Code:
$ free
             total         used         free       shared      buffers
Mem:        [COLOR=Green]727040[/COLOR]       714052        12988            0        35584
-/+ buffers:             678468        48572
Swap:            0            0            0
(The above output is from the LG Motion 4G - 1GB Ram)

and they say dualcore 1.5

Thanks kcurtis106 and dadcup. Now we know-

The LG Motion 4G's "1GB ram" comes out to 727040KB
And the ZTE Avid's "1GB ram" comes out to 685856KB

A difference of 41184KB (~40MB) between the two.

The "total" represents all memory allotted to: Linux kernel + OS files + All apps. (total available for everything run from kernel and later)

Since mobile device ram isn't known to come in the 700-800MB variety, the best guess appears to be that the rest of the "1GB Ram" is being used by the GPU. This has yet to be confirmed, but hopefully one day we will get an answer.

On the brighter side, it's good to hear that the Avid got a large amount of ram. That will make running apps a lot nicer now and in the future.
