How put password on a file?

I want to store a file on my phone but I want to require a password to open the file. Any apps that will do that? Thanks.

Do you want to be able to access it from the phone or just have it there so it can be accessed from a PC via USB? What kind of file? Need a little more information.

MyStash
APG

Edit: only with .txt try OI Notepad with crypt add on

I would mainly access the file from the phone, but in a few cases I might want to access it from a PC. It would usually be a Word file (*.doc) but might also want the protection on other files (Excel, PDF, JPG).

So, minimum specs is a free app that can password protect a Word (*.doc) file on the phone. Thanks.

I have a app called "App Lock" and you can have a password to open any app, so you could use it to lock out your picture gallery etc.

MyStash is a container like a safe with a password. In this container you put your files, ready!

Alright, so I have a slightly weird issue.
I use mystash predominantly and I noticed (when my phone was plugged into my computer) that the file had a .enc attached to the .jpg which I assumed was all that was stopping the file being opened.
However, when I added these to my computer and took off the .enc they became unopenable, as in, windows would open them, but say something like, 'unreadable'.
I tried emailing mystash to no avail, anyone know how I can get these pics back?

if you can open it and look at it, can you screenshot it and re-save it as a new file?

This would require Photoshop or some other type of photo software. GIMP or Picasa or some "light" version of Photoshop could do this probably. Even MS pain might work.

Sorry, what I should say is that I can't see the actual picture, just that windows recognises it as a jpg, and opens it, but then, rather than showing the actual picture, it says something like 'windows can't open the file' or something like that.

Oh, well I dunno then, sounds like it's actually encrypted. Windows is dumb it just assumes file type by the .jpg extension heh :)

I didn't use MyStash for a long time so I don't know if I rightly remember its features.
But I think, if you attach .enc at the file again and decrypt the file with MyStash you will get your .jpg file back and with it your picture.

Hey Harry,
Yeah I thought the same thing, and I think tried that, still nothing. However, I suspect I'm doing something wrong, in that I don't know how to change the extension properly, how does one go about that?

I thought that I might be able to get a decrypter or something but have no idea what I should be looking for.

To change the extension: With your PC via USB connection. Or with a file manager on your phone, e.g. Estrongs File Explorer, free in market.

Decrypting: You encrypted the file with MyStash on your phone, right? So you should decrypt the file with MyStash on your phone.

Hi guys,
So I changed the file extension by renaming the file with .jpg.enc onto the end of it then changing it back using mystash.
Unfortunately it didn't work, any other ideas? And how would I do it with photoshop?
