How safe is Ciudad Juarez compared to Toronto?

I live in Toronto and might be travelling to Ciudad Juarez in the summer, I'm wondering if I can get opinions on how dangerous Juarez is compared to Toronto.

Thanks

Well,Toronto is one of the world's safest cities, so I'm guessing that Juarez which at one time was the most dangerous city in Mexico, is not quite as safe as good old Toronto. Is that to say you will definitely be a statistic once you reach Juarez, no. Nor is it saying that everyone in Toronto is free from danger. Fact of the matter is, danger lurks around every corner, and fate is a very uncaring and unforgiving wench!

LOL..

You do know that is almost one of the main cities the sinaloa and gulfo and zetas cartels over run?

Even tho most of the cartel killings have slightly gone down due to el chapo being captured, all the kidnappings and robbings still continue.

Why not try one of the more tourist areas/cities instead.

Not saying you will die the second you get there, but there is a curfew and lots of warnings so you dont get caught in the middle.

Assuming you are coming from canada means you dont look mexican so youll be a target for money/ransom.

Good luck..

I definitely wouldn't go to any big Mexican city... Actually, I wouldn't go anywhere within Mexico's borders, not even to traditional tourist destinations. Mexico is engaged in an unofficial civil war right now. Mexicans aren't safe in Mexico, with visiting outsiders even less safe.

I've never been to Ciudad Juarez but it has to be as least as safe as Nuevo Laredo was back in the late seventies.

Having Police Officers patrolling carrying M-16s made me feel all warm and fuzzy inside. I just wish the streets had been paved back then. The cerveza was excellent!

Nuevo Laredo is just a town though. I've never been to a Mexican city.

From the comments above, sounds like you'd be safer going for a holiday in Aleppo.

Not about traveling to Mexico at all zijincheng but I just got to asked mikedt what's wrong with the wall we have now between the US and MX? There really, really is one.

The one that has been up long before trump came in only covers the actual border entrance and isnt fully finished in most parts.

More like 21% done, but hey im hispanic and could careless.

They take my mom to mexico, ill be sitting waving bye since shits gonna happen if you did something bad.

Of course my moms a saint so no issue to her either especially since she has been in the us since she was 3 months old and is still considered mexican haha.

If we seriously look into it, nowhere is safe, you really need to be alert at all times and avoid dodgy areas especially at night. Anyway, I'd recommend going to another city just to avoid any stories that touches the heart.
