How to access usb in android

Hi,

I am trying to access android from my host pc where the windows is running. I installed Java development kit and android sdk in host pc, but wen i am giving the command adb shell in command prompt i am getting error as access denied..
how to overcome this?

An access error is usually related to permissions. You might try running the command shell as administrator. Also as alostpacket suggested, make sure you are in debugging mode and have the appropriate drivers for the phone installed. If you are not sure about the drivers, check in with the subsection for your specific phone model, or let us know what phone you are using and we can point you to it.
