Root How to and why to root the Razr

So how would go about in rooting this bad boy?? Also what are the benefits of doing this? Does the void your warranty? Thoughts/suggestions :)
 
ive rooted my past 3 droids and now the razr, rooting is awesome!!! its just awesome to know i have no limitations on my phone!!! :-)

And the locked bootloader?


It is honestly the only thing making me hold out for the Gnex, even though I know I'll like the Razr better.

What if we are not into roms, what are the main benefits of rooting then?

What changes from rom to rom?

I always hear how awesome cm7 is, what makes it so much better than stock os?

So ive rooted my droid razr. Ive found a few cool things to do with it. But im not too sure what to do. I cant seem to get the clockworkMod recovery to run on my phone because they dont have a version that is supported for the razr. Any ideas on what to do in order to install new Roms?
 
You root out of curiosity and the feel good sense that you tackled something scary, and succeeded (usually).
You ROM because of the confidence that rooting gave you, and the fun to re-learn your phone all over again.

I'm not really into roms much as i just use a different launcher most the time anyway. I do love rooting my phone though. The main reason for me is battery life. It gives you full control over the phone so you can stop all the vzw bloat crap from ever popping up and bleeding you dry.
