Help How to attach a file within email with Google chrome

I have Gmail opened up within Google chrome. Tried to attach a file, but was not given the option to choose from My Files. I could only select pictures, videos, and downloads (my file was a download but didn't show up there). The same problem happened when I used the Gmail app.

However, when I used Gmail in my Verizon browser, I got the option to attach from My Files. How do I make chrome give me that option too?

Instead of using a different browser, have you tried another file explorer app (other than myfiles)?
(just a guess)

@chanchan05: I tried to, but it wouldn't let me get to the file but I wanted to attached, which was a PDF. @funkylogik: I haven't..it just seems so weird that Gmail of all things wouldn't let me pick such a common file type to attach.

Well that's weird. I just tried it on my phone with a pdf file and it can be attached both via Gmail app and My Files. Maybe it's the size limitation? Most Email services (yahoo for example) allow only 15mb attachment sizes. Gmail allows 25mb. You can share larger files by putting them up on Google Drive first then sharing the link.

I think I found the problem. The Gmail app doesn't let me choose from all the files on my phone by default. However, if I am attaching a file and I tell the app to show the memory card, then it shows both the internal memory and the SD card contents. This may only be the case with Lollipop, or maybe it was possible before too but I just hasn't found it then.
