im new to this and i have ah question i reacently got locked down on my motorola I1 and wanted to now if their is ah way to avoid getting locked out.

Welcome to the forums!!!
When you say locked out do you mean you forgot your password to unlock the phone? After so many failed attempts it locked you out?
Under menu / settings / security there should be a menu for Password protect, or security lockscreen or something along those lines. If you uncheck this you should be able to just swipe to unlock your phone without a password.
I can't remember what the exact menu choices are for Eclair, which, I think, that phone is running.
