Help how to back up my diary

Hi

I have my diary entries on the HTC Calendar on my Wildfire.

Can I back this up on my Google account? Currently if I lose my phone then I lose everything.

I have ticked HTC Sync> Sync with my Google account months ago but nothing has happened, there are no entries on my Google calendar.

Grateful for advice or pointer to FAQ.

Hmm I believe that if you tap on the Google account in the sync settings, another menu should open giving you the choice of syncing your calendars, contacts and for some roms, even allows you to sync your picasa pics too.
