How to backup before rooting?

[bad_dog]

I want to do a complete backup including my system and application data before rooting. However the backup apps that I have looked at require a rooted phone before all app and other data will be backed up. (the applications are backed up, but not the data, which is the most important part!)

How are most android users backing up their phones? I cant believe that nobody is backing up their phones.

Thanks
