how to backup firmware

how can i backup my original firmware?

and if i flashed my phone and then samsung released gingerbread can i update my phone through kies?

It's easy enough to download earlier releases of firmware.

I upgraded to 2.3.4 and I'm on the verge of rolling back to 2.2 if I don't resolve my one issue I have.

@Gammer, you might need to flash with it again, because i had this problem but was solved after flashing 2.3.4 again.
Or just try asking for new APN settings from your Service provider..
