How to best use sd card?

Thought it would be interesting and hopefully helpful to start a thread about how to best utilize an SD card.

I got a 64 gb one thinking it would be great to store downloaded spotify music on. However it seems from what I read that is very difficult to do-requiring installing an old spotify version that allows it.

So what else is a good use of the sd card? Id imagine storing movies would be popular? is that easy to do? What else do you folks find the SD card useful for?

I'll play. Like you, I bought a 64 GB card knowing full well that would be overkill for me since I don't do movies on my phone unless it's streaming.

I put all my 'old' photos and family video clips on the external card. By old I mean photos from past cameras, scans, etc. Current photos - the ones taken by the Note 3 - stay on the internal memory until such a time as they have been transferred to an external backup source such as the cloud or PC. I do this because I have had external SD cards spontaneously corrupt, losing everything on them.

For the same reason I also do not put apps on the external SD card. With 32 GB of internal memory there is no reason anyway.

I put all my personal ripped music on the external SD - approximately 12 GB. I have a large CD collection of which I've ripped my favorites. I also use Rhapsody subscription music so all of my playlists on that I have on the external SD so I can play those 'offline' and save my data - very useful.

That's really about it. Music takes up the largest chuck. I do have a couple apps that automatically back up info to the external SD and/or the cloud, but that takes up next to no room in the grand scheme of things.

I have some photos that I have moved over from past smartphones and I have some music on there. But mostly I have about 45Gb of movies. It's nice for a boring night at work or especially for traveling.

Before I started converting my blu-rays to digital, I didn't have much need for an SD card, but now I look at that option as a must for future phones. Also, I can move the SD card over to my Note 10.1 and watch movies on there when I have the tablet nearby.

I have the 6 Star Wars Blu-Ray movies on the 64GB card. Still have tons of room... but a lot of that is expansion, too. Gotta get the Note 4 next year, ya know :D
